The Umbrella plant is a species of sedge native to Africa and western Asia that is widely planted as an ornamental for its charming, umbrella-like form and its rich green color. This relative of the Egyptian papyrus is grown in gardens and ponds in regions with mild climates and it is also grown as a container plant in cool regions. Also called the Umbrella papyrus. Hardy in zones 9-12.
