The Suberb Schima is an attractive evergreen tree in the tea family that is native to Asia. It has white, fragrant, camellia-like flowers that are in clusters at the twig ends. The flowers have 5 petals and many orange stamens. Fruits are subglobose capsules that contain a number of brown, winged seeds. Leaves are elliptic or oblong, rich green, leathery and glossy. They have toothed margins. It grows well over 100 feet tall in the wild and 15-60 feet in height in cultivation. Native to rich, mountainous forests. It grows in subtropical and warm temperate regions of China and Japan. It has a tropical appearance. Hardy in zones 7-9.
