Bellis perennis, commonly known as the English daisy, is a charming perennial herb in the Asteraceae family, native to Europe but now naturalized in many temperate regions worldwide. It forms low rosettes of spoon-shaped green leaves and produces delicate flower heads on slender stems, typically 5–15 cm tall. Each flower head consists of a bright yellow central disc surrounded by white, pink, or red ray florets that close at night or during cloudy weather. Blooming profusely from early spring to autumn, the English daisy adds a cheerful touch to lawns, borders, and rock gardens. It thrives in cool, moist conditions with full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. Although often grown as an ornamental for its quaint, old-fashioned beauty, it can also naturalize easily, lending a soft, meadow-like charm to garden settings.
