Delphinium consolida, commonly known as field larkspur or garden larkspur, is an annual flowering plant native to Europe and western Asia that has also naturalized in parts of North America. It typically grows 30–90 cm tall, producing erect stems with finely divided, feathery green leaves. The plant bears tall, loose racemes of showy flowers that bloom from late spring into summer, with colors ranging from deep blue to violet, often with a white or lighter center. Each flower has the characteristic backward-extending spur of larkspurs, which attracts bees and other pollinators. Preferring full sun and well-drained soils, D. consolida is often found in gardens, meadows, and disturbed areas. Its beautiful color, ease of cultivation, and delicate foliage make it a favorite in traditional cottage gardens and naturalized flower beds.
