Acer buergerianum, commonly known as Trident Maple, is a species of maple native to eastern China, Korea, and Japan. This deciduous tree is appreciated for its attractive foliage, which turns vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow in autumn. The name "Trident Maple" comes from the three-lobed leaves, which resemble the prongs of a trident.

It's a popular choice for bonsai cultivation due to its small leaves and delicate branching structure. In landscaping, Trident Maple is valued for its tolerance of urban conditions, adaptability to various soil types, and moderate growth rate. It typically grows to a height of 25 to 35 feet (7.6 to 10.7 meters) with a spread of 25 to 35 feet (7.6 to 10.7 meters).

Trident Maple is often used as a street tree, in parks, and as a specimen tree in gardens. It's relatively low-maintenance but benefits from regular pruning to maintain its shape and promote healthy growth. Overall, it's a lovely ornamental tree with many desirable characteristics for both amateur and professional landscapers. Hardy in zones 4-9.
